CD of UU theme Booklists
$20
Wait till you see this terrific collection of book titles organized by more than 40 UU themes (ranging from each of the principles and diversity to God and other religions). It comes to you as Microsoft word documents on a CD that can be used as is or downloaded onto your computer. We’ve all seen lists of book recommendations before, but this spectacular one introduces each book with the title and a quick notation about what the book is about. (I often added my thoughts about the book, any relevant comments on if they would work in a Sunday morning group or if they are only relevant to one age group of children). This will always remain a work in progress, but it is already a must own resource for anyone who does story times in R.E. programs or church worship services. It is also a perfect tool to have available to your R.E. volunteers and families!
The lists include ...
"Favorite books that carry many UU themes", "books about famous UUs", "books highlighting the principle of respecting all people", "books highlighting the principle of equity and compassion", "books highlighting the principle of coming together with acceptance", "books highlighting the principle of finding our own truths", "books highlighting the principle of working together with democracy", "books highlighting the principle of peace and freedom", "books highlighting the principle of loving our earth", "books about growing flowers, gardens, and trees", "books about animals", "fiction books about animals", "books that introduce science with wonder", "books about seasons and nature (good for seasonal holidays like Solstice and Equinox)", "books about water or nature for back together worship services", "books about the Thanksgiving Holiday", "books about the Christmas Holiday", "books about Easter and Spring", "books about other holidays (Mother’s Day and Halloween)", "books about God", "books about Angels and Fairies", "books about prayer and meditation", "books about death and coping with the loss", "books about creation stories (how the world began)", "books that introduce Native, African, and Earth Centered traditions", "books that introduce Jewish and Christian traditions", "books that introduce Eastern cultures and religions", "books that introduce Spanish and Mexican culture", "books that introduce other cultures and religions", "books about diversity", "books that introduce people with disabilities", "books that introduce different types of families", "books about families", "books about friendships", "books about feelings", "books about appreciation and gratitude", "books about what we value in life (figuring out what is important to us)", "books about being true to yourself (and living life accordingly)", "books about fiction and folk heroes", "books about people who have worked for equality, freedom, and peace", "books about homes and houses", "books about art", "books about kites", and "books that explore good and bad imagery through light and dark".
